Import Guide
Step-by-step instructions for downloading your trade history and importing it into Closing Bell.
Schwab / Charles Schwab
- 1Recommended: Open the thinkorswim desktop app, go to the Monitor tab, and create an Account Statement. This includes execution times for each trade, which gives you more accurate hold-time and time-of-day analytics.
- 2Alternative: Go to schwab.com → Accounts → History → Transactions tab. Set your date range (max 1 year), click Export → CSV. Note: this export does not include execution times.
- 3In Closing Bell: go to Imports, select "Schwab" as broker, and upload the CSV.
Schwab also supports direct broker sync (Pro feature) — go to Broker Connections to connect your Schwab account and pull trades automatically.
Interactive Brokers (IBKR)
- 1Go to Client Portal and navigate to Performance & Reports, then Statements.
- 2Click "Activity" statement.
- 3Set date range and format to CSV.
- 4Download the file.
- 5In Closing Bell: go to Imports, select "IBKR" as broker, and upload the CSV.
IBKR also supports direct broker sync (Pro feature) — go to Broker Connections to set it up.
Tastytrade
- 1Go to tastytrade.com and open the History tab.
- 2Select your date range.
- 3Click the "CSV" download button.
- 4In Closing Bell: go to Imports, select "Tastytrade", and upload the CSV.
Tradovate
- 1Go to Tradovate and navigate to Account, then Reports.
- 2Select the "Orders" or "Fill" report.
- 3Export as CSV.
- 4In Closing Bell: go to Imports, select "Tradovate", and upload the CSV.
Other Brokers
- 1Most brokers offer a CSV export of transaction history. Download your trade/transaction history as CSV.
- 2In Closing Bell: go to Imports and use the "Auto-detect" option — it will automatically identify your broker format and parse the file.
- 3If auto-detect doesn’t recognize your file, try selecting a specific broker format manually.
- 4If your broker isn’t supported yet, contact us — we’re adding new brokers regularly.
Tips
- *Always download CSV, not PDF.
- *Select the widest date range available.
- *Include all transaction types (trades, dividends, fees).
- *Closing Bell automatically detects duplicates if you re-import.
